The artwork combines contemporary art with modern presentation technology to honor the life and legacy of Fidel Castro while promoting the enduring values of the traditional friendship and special solidarity between Vietnam and Cuba.

Measuring 1.8 meters by 1.4 meters, the piece is created on illuminated tempered glass using a new-generation artistic mosaic technique. It is composed of 6,690 file photos selected from more than 40,000 records that were cross-checked and verified by official sources, including the Cuban Embassy in Vietnam, the Vietnam News Agency, the Ho Chi Minh Museum, the State Records and Archives Department, and various media organizations.

According to Vuong Xuan Nguyen, Director of the Institute of Economics, Culture and Arts, the artwork incorporates numerous symbolic elements. Among them, 100 photos depicting Vietnam - Cuba relations commemorate the 100th birth anniversary of Fidel Castro; the number 66 represents the 66 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries (1960 - 2026); and the number 90 symbolizes the 90-year life and revolutionary career of the Cuban leader (1926 - 2016).

At the center of the artwork is a portrait of Fidel Castro smiling against the backdrop of the national flags of Vietnam and Cuba. Surrounding the portrait are historical images highlighting key milestones in his revolutionary life, from his youth and revolutionary struggle to his leadership of the Cuban Revolution and his contributions to national liberation movements, peace, and social justice around the world.

The artwork also features materials illustrating the enduring relationship between Vietnam and Cuba, including Fidel Castro’s historic visits to Vietnam in 1973, 1995, and 2003, meetings between senior leaders of the two countries, and a wide range of cooperation and exchange activities carried out over more than six decades.
